fashion shows.

Fashion must be in the air in Nashville, Tennessee.

Last Friday I attended the Dawn of the Apocalypse fashion show highlighting the collections of designers Nicole Cooley and Dylan Stephens. The show was held at Limelight in downtown Nashville and featured an intimate crowd. Seated next to the runway, I watched garments from sexy clubwear to destructured dark threads march down the aisle. Photos from the event can be seen here. Every event I attend only furthers my love for this creative industry. My students also participated in this fashion show, diligently working backstage and even stepping in to style hair into messy birdsnests of braids when the hair stylist failed to show. The importance of participating in these events is never stressed enough; impressed with her hard work, Nicole even hired a student of mine to work with her during Nashville Fashion Week, develop a photo shoot, and attend Magic in with her in Las Vegas. I guess it pays to be a student at the Art Institute of Tennessee-Nashville.

Tomorrow I’ll also be attending the Peek-A-Boo Vintage Fashion Show in Nashville, TN at Billups Art. The show and gallery last from 7:30 pm – midnight. The show will feature fashions from The Clothing Exchange, Venus & Mars, Diamond Star Halo, Hip Zipper, and Savant, and musical guests include Peter Moon Band. Information regarding the show can be found here.
